Pyung ho Kim has over 10 years of experience in GIS project management and strategic transportation planning. In 2008, Mr. Kim joined MTA LIRR, the nation’s largest commuter railroad serving NYC’s eastern suburbs. As part of the MTA, the LIRR invests billions in modernizing its aging infrastructure while also expanding the system to address 21st century travel needs.
For the past 7 years, he has coordinated and managed geospatial aspects of short- and long-term capital and operational transportation planning in support of various LIRR corporate initiatives. Prior to that, he taught GIS courses as an adjunct lecturer and worked as a research assistant at a GIS lab (CARSI) at Hunter College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY).
He has a bachelor in Political Science from Hunter College and an A.S. in Computer Science from LaGuardia Community College. Also, he holds two master degrees; Urban Affairs and Planning (M.S.) from Hunter College and Earth and Environmental Science from the Graduate Center at CUNY (M.Ph.). Mr. Kim is a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) and acquired a GIS and Project Management Certificate from CUNY. Currently, he is an active member of several GIS user groups.
